BUCKHEAD. Distinguished by its stained-glass dome and pleasing blue walls, this delightful restaurant is a tried-and-true favorite for delicious Italian fare. Undeniably good, the menu tempts with vibrant flavors, as seen in pan-seared scallops with citrus sauce, grilled lamb chops with dill sauce, pan-seared duck breast with parmesan risotto, and sautéed trout meunière. Purists also adore the paella, chockful of chicken, seafood, and chorizo. Adjacent to the dining room is a gourmet take-out branch of the business.

Set in a voluminous, warehouse-like space, this restaurant warms its interior with a tile mosaic and local art. Its cuisine couples the rustic flavors of the American Southwest and the Mediterranean to great effect. Smoky, earthy undertones thread their way through the host of entrees, which include grilled pork tenderloin, gourmet pizzas, a tuna tostada with cactus slaw, and Navajo fry bread. Vegetarian options are available, along with a full bar. Kids are also welcome, although their taste buds will certainly get a flavor kick not known to typical pizzas and burritos.

DECATUR. Who says Italians have the market on pizza? This Greek restaurant specializes in homemade pies with a definite Greek twist. PONCEY-HIGHLAND. Babette's is a special place for both dinner and Sunday brunch. Occupying a converted bungalow in the historic Highlands area, the dining room is pure Country French, with small, intimate spaces and romantic decorative touches. The brunch menu offers many breakfast and lunch favorites, including eggs benedict, fresh berry pancakes, smoked trout and salmon salad, and French toast with brioche. You'll also find excellent desserts and an extensive wine list at the relaxed, authentically European establishment.

EMORY. This fabulous French-inspired restaurant holds court in Atlanta's warehouse district. The industrial feel of the neighborhood extends to the quirky decor, which includes milk bottles that serve as hanging lights. The menu is top-notch, featuring appetizers of pasta or baby squid, followed by outstanding potato gnocchi with veal sweetbreads, wodd-grilled hangar steak or penne with braised lamb. The desserts, as you might expect, befit such a tantalizing and artistic cuisine.
